The Firm
A quarter-century
of disciplined building.
Since 1999, we have built our practice one project at a time — with a single, in-house team, full insurance, and an unwavering commitment to delivering on schedule and within budget.
What began as a residential remodeling outfit has evolved into Charleston County\'s trusted name for custom home construction and high-end renovations. We work alongside homeowners, architects, and designers to bring considered, lasting work to the Lowcountry — from Mount Pleasant and Daniel Island to Sullivan\'s Island and the historic peninsula.
We don\'t subcontract our craft. Every framer, finisher, and foreman is part of our own team. The result is consistency you can see — and trust you can feel.

The Firm
Foundation to finish.
Whether we are raising a new home from the ground up or reimagining a generational property, we apply the same discipline, the same team, and the same standard of finish to every undertaking.
Custom Home Construction
From site selection through final walk-through, we partner with discerning homeowners and architects to build singular residences — defined by considered detail, structural integrity, and Lowcountry sensibility.
Whole-Home Renovations
For homeowners who love their address but envision more from their walls. Comprehensive renovations that respect a home's bones while elevating every surface, system, and sightline.
Kitchen & Bath
The rooms where craftsmanship is most visible. Kitchens and bathrooms with a measured hand — premium cabinetry, natural stone, and finishes specified for permanence.
Additions & Expansions
Thoughtfully integrated additions that read as original to the home. Second-floor expansions, principal suites, sunrooms, and accessory dwellings — built to feel inevitable.
Outdoor Living
Custom decks, screened porches, pergolas, and outdoor kitchens — designed to extend the home into the landscape, with materials chosen to weather the coastal climate gracefully.
Millwork & Trim
Built-ins, paneling, coffered ceilings, custom stairs, and architectural trim. The fine carpentry that quietly distinguishes a custom home from a production one.
Roofing & Cladding
Standing-seam metal, premium architectural shingles, and engineered cladding — sourced and installed to perform in the salt air and storms of the Lowcountry.
Hardwood & Finishes
Site-finished hardwoods, plaster details, specialty paints, and bespoke interior finishes. The textures that define how a home is felt as much as seen.
Why Domus
Six
standards. Zero exceptions
We believe the best homes are not the loudest. They are the ones that age well — where the trim still sits flush a decade on, where the framing carries the storm, where the kitchen still feels current. Our practice is built around six standards we do not negotiate.
01
Our Own Team
No subcontracted crews. Every person on your project is a trained, insured member of our team — which means consistent quality, accountable craftsmanship, and a single point of trust.
02
Licensed & Insured
South Carolina licensed and comprehensively insured. Permits, inspections, and code compliance are handled in-house, with full transparency at every stage of construction.
03
Schedule Discipline
We commit to a schedule and we honor it. Twenty-five years of project management has taught us how to forecast realistically, communicate clearly, and finish when we said we would.
04
Transparent Pricing
Detailed proposals with no hidden line items. Material allowances are clearly disclosed, change orders are documented in advance, and you only release final payment when fully satisfied.
05
Lowcountry Built
A quarter-century building in Charleston has given us fluency in the things that matter here — coastal building code, salt-air detailing, hurricane fastening, and the architectural vocabulary of the region.
05
Quiet Conduct
We work in occupied homes with discretion. Site cleanliness, daily communication, and respectful conduct are not extras — they are standard operating practice on every Domus Built project.
The Process
From conversation to keys.
01
Consultation
We meet at the site or studio to understand the home, the vision, and the constraints. Initial consultations are complimentary and held in confidence.
02
Proposal
Detailed scope, transparent budget, and a realistic schedule. We coordinate with your architect and designer, or recommend one if needed.
03
Construction
Our in-house team takes the field. Weekly progress reporting, photo documentation, and a single foreman accountable for every day on site.
04
Handover
Final walk-through, punch-list, and warranty documentation. You release final payment only when the home is exactly as it should be.
Working with Domus Built was the most considered building experience we have had. They protected our timeline, refined the budget where it mattered, and finished a home that feels — quietly — extraordinary.

Frequently Asked
Questions,
answered.
The questions we hear most often from prospective clients. If yours isn\'t here, our team is one call or email away — we are happy to walk through the specifics of your project before any consultation.
Do you build new custom homes from the ground up?
Yes. Custom home construction is a core part of our practice. We work with homeowners, architects, and designers on full new-build projects across Charleston County — from land evaluation and design coordination through construction and final detailing.
What is the typical project size you take on?
Our renovation projects generally range from substantial kitchen and bath remodels through whole-home renovations. New construction projects begin at custom single-family residences. We accept a limited number of projects each year to ensure proper attention on each one.
Where do you work?
We work primarily across Charleston County, including the barrier islands (Sullivan's, Isle of Palms, Kiawah, Seabrook), Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island, downtown Charleston, and the surrounding municipalities. For projects beyond this area, we welcome a conversation.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Domus Built is fully licensed in South Carolina and carries comprehensive general liability and workers' compensation insurance. All permits, inspections, and code-compliance documentation are handled in-house.
How long does a typical project take?
Timelines vary by scope. A focused renovation typically runs eight to sixteen weeks. Whole-home renovations average four to nine months. New custom homes generally run twelve to eighteen months from groundbreaking. We provide a detailed schedule during pre-construction and report against it weekly.
Do you work with our architect or designer?
Absolutely. We collaborate routinely with architects, interior designers, and landscape designers. When a client does not yet have a design team, we can recommend Lowcountry professionals whose sensibilities align with the work.
How are projects priced?
We provide detailed written proposals with clearly itemized scope, material allowances, and timeline. Change orders are documented in advance. Final payment is released only upon your complete satisfaction with the finished work.
